ABSTRACT

Route Saver System is an application software that enables a user to save tracks from one point to another destination. Saving an individual's current route will be one of the most important functions of future mobile computing environments. The aim of the study is to Design and Implement a Route Saver System. In achieving this aim, the following specific objectives were laid out as follows to design and develop an application software that will ease the difficulty in locating the route passed to an individual's actual destination and inculcate an offline route saver system that will eradicate the issue of poor signal coverage and internet connection in remote areas. The motivation for embarking on the proposed system is that a lot of people encounter difficulty in locating the route passed to an individual's actual destination, saving routes in remote places is usually difficult as a result of poor signal coverage and internet connection. and the manual route saver system is time consuming and lacks sufficient storage capacity. The methodology adopted in this study is the structured system analysis and design methodology (SSADM) which is a technical approach for analyzing and designing an application or system by applying object throughout the software development process. The programming language used is HTML, CSS, JAVASCRIPT, PHP, SQL and JQUERY. The reason why web programming languages was used is because, it is platform independent and it is a web based application. This study will be of immense benefit to farmers, students, travelers and other researchers who intend to know more on this study and can also be used by non-researchers to build more on their research work. The expected result is an computerized Route Saver System that will provide sufficient storage capacity for saving route accurately and timely, and the system will determine the shortest path to take from the saved routes.

CHAPTER ONE

1.1 Introduction

Route Saver System is an application software that enables a user to save tracks from one point to another destination. Saving an individual's current route will be one of the most important functions of future mobile computing environments. Route-awareness is a key issue for mobile, ubiquitous and handheld computing and many people expect a high potential of route-based services such as city guides or navigation systems for mobile commerce scenarios. Mobile technology has really accelerate in terms of it advancement to the extent that it has limitlessly left mobile application developers with no choice but to continue in it manipulation of its usefulness over and over (Leng, 2011). The primary goal of our approach is to provide uniform route information, which is independent from the actual positioning system.

As a prelude to other parts of this study, this chapter will discuss the background upon which this study was initiated, the statement of problems that led to this study, the Aim and Objectives of the study. Others are Significance of the study, Scope of work, Limitations of the Study and Definition of technical terms.
