The study was carried out to examine the Influence of Terrorist Threat and Security Knowledge on Peace Longevity in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State. In achieving this aim, the following specific objectives were laid out to establish why terrorism is inevitable despite the collective state efforts and identify the factors influencing terrorist activities between the period of 2015 to 2021. Investigation revealed that terrorists’ activities weaken state's ability to provide peace to its citizens. Women, children and men have all suffered the consequences of terrorism. Also, the damage of infrastructure is impulsive to an extent that billions of dollars are wasted in rebuilding structures.
The research design used in this report is descriptive design, utilizing questionnaire method to obtain information from the respondents for this project. Primary data were collected from the primary source which questionnaire was used as an instrument of data collection while secondary data were sources from textbooks, journals, newspapers and the internet were employed. The data were presented on a frequency distribution table and analyzed using simple percentage, while hypothesis was tested using chi-square test.
The present study hypothesized that terrorism negatively affect collective effort towards the maintenance of peace and security. The research findings will be of great significance to the world and regional organizations concerned with world peace, educationists, security and state institutions, concerned with tackling terrorism. Based on the findings, it was recommended that there is need to observe human rights and all protocols relating to the protection of civilians. Without observance of human rights then the humans will continue to suffer. The methods applied to the contact of war should be observed without fail and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and African Charter for People's Human Rights.
