O’Level Requirements


To study this course, candidates seeking admission into the English and International Studies department under Faculty of Arts and Humanities, must have at least five (5) credits (C5 and more) in their SSCE disciplines, including the following:


  • English Language,


  • Literature in English and


  • any other three (3) Arts/Social Science subjects.


JAMB Subject Combination


  • Use of English,


  • Government or History,


  • Literature in English and


  • any other relevant Arts subject.

The general UTME cut-off mark is 180, but due to the variation of English and International Studies cut-off mark depending on the admission year and competition level, we suggest you enquire about the recent JAMB UTME cut-off mark from SSU Officials. However, to improve your admission chances:

To study this course, the minimum requirement for applicants seeking admission to the English Language department, is five (5) credits (C5 and higher) in their SSCE subjects, including the following:

  • any other three (3) Arts/Social Science subjects.



3. Islamic Studies


To study this course, candidates aspiring to gain admission into Islamic Studies department, should at least obtain five (5) credit (C5 and above) passes in their SSCE subjects including:
