O’Level Requirements
To study this course, a minimum of five (5) credit passes (C5 and higher) in their SSCE subjects, including the following, are required for applicants to the Local Government Studies department under Faculty of Social Sciences.
English Language (not Literature in English)
Any three subjects from the following: Economics / Commerce, Business Methods, Principles of Accounts, Literature in English, Geography, Office Practice, Government, Biology / Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Physics, History / Government, Typewriting, and Shorthand
JAMB Subject Combination
Any two (2) subjects from the following: Geography, Commerce, Government, Principles of Accounts, and Economics
SSU Local Government Studies Suggested Cut-Off Mark if Offered
The general UTME cut-off mark is 180, but due to the variation of Local Government Studies cut-off mark depending on the admission year and competition level, we suggest you enquire about the recent JAMB UTME cut-off mark from SSU Officials. However, to improve your admission chances:

Any other two (2) relevant Social Sciences or Arts subjects.
2. Islamic Studies
To study this course, candidates aspiring to gain admission into Islamic Studies department, should at least obtain five (5) credit (C5 and above) passes in their SSCE subjects including:
Islamic Studies or Arabic and
any three (3) relevant subjects.
3. Arabic Studies
To study this course, candidates seeking admission into the Arabic Studies department, must have at least five (5) credits (C5 and more) in their SSCE disciplines, including the following:

4. Hausa
To study this course, candidates seeking admission into the Hausa department, must have at least five (5) credits (C5 and more) in their SSCE disciplines, including the following:
