O’Level Requirements
To study this course, the minimum requirement for applicants seeking admission to the Social Studies department under Faculty of Social Sciences, is five (5) credits (C5 and higher) in their SSCE subjects, including the following:
any two (2) of Social Science subject.
JAMB Subject Combination
any two (2) of Social Science subject.
SSU Social Studies Suggested Cut-Off Mark if Offered
The general UTME cut-off mark is 180, but due to the variation of Social Studies cut-off mark depending on the admission year and competition level, we suggest you enquire about the recent JAMB UTME cut-off mark from SSU Officials. However, to improve your admission chances:

1. Sociology
To study this course, candidates seeking admission into the Sociology department, must have at least five (5) credits (C5 and more) in their SSCE disciplines, including the following:
four (4) other Social Sciences/Arts subject.
2. Educational Management
To study this course, candidates aspiring to gain admission into Educational Management department, should at least obtain five (5) credit (C5 and above) passes in their SSCE subjects including:
Level NTC/NBC credit passes, or
Level pass in Mathematics, and
any other relevant subject.
3. Guidance and Counselling
To study this course, candidates seeking admission into the Guidance and Counselling department, must have at least five (5) credits (C5 and more) in their SSCE disciplines, including the following:
‘O’ Level pass in Mathematics, and
any three other relevant subjects.
4. Political Science
To study this course, candidates aspiring to gain admission into Political Science department, should at least obtain five (5) credit (C5 and above) passes in their SSCE subjects including:
at least a pass in Mathematics, and
three (3) other subjects.
5. Economics
To study this course, candidates seeking admission into the Economics department, must have at least five (5) credits (C5 and more) in their SSCE disciplines, including the following:
any two (2) of Arts or Social Science subjects.
