Admission Requirements for Communication and Language Arts When Accredited in University of Calabar (UNICAL)


O’Level Requirements


To study this course, candidates seeking admission into the Communication and Language Arts department under Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, must have at least five (5) credits (C5 and more) in their SSCE disciplines, including the following:

  • any other four (4) relevent subjects from


  • Economics, Geography/Physics,


  • Government, Home Economics,


  • History, Arabic, Social Studies,


  • Fine Arts, Music and Literature in English.


JAMB Subject Combination


  • Use of English and


  • any three (3) of


  • Yoruba, Literature in English,


  • Christian Religious studies,


  • History, Economics and Islamic Studies.


UNICAL Cut-Off Mark for Communication and Language Arts

To study this course, candidates aspiring to gain admission into Education and English Language department, should at least obtain five (5) credit (C5 and above) passes in their SSCE subjects including:

  • Literature in English, and


  • three (3) other Arts / Social Science subjects.

To study this course, candidates seeking admission into the Education and Social Science department, must have at least five (5) credits (C5 and more) in their SSCE disciplines, including the following:
