Admission Requirements for Fine Arts and Design When Accredited in University of Calabar (UNICAL)


O’Level Requirements


To study this course, candidates aspiring to gain admission into Fine Arts and Design department under Faculty of Arts and Humanities, should at least obtain five (5) credit (C5 and above) passes in their SSCE subjects including:


  • English Language and


  • Fine Arts.


  • For holders of NTC, the relevant subjects could be from:


  • General Wood work, Building/Engineering Drawing,


  • Introduction to Building Construction, Decorative Painting,


  • Spray Painting, Lining, Sign and Design, Wall hanging, Colour Mixing/Matching and Glazing,


  • Printing Origination, Machine Printing and Finishing, General Metal Work, Basic Electricity, Spinning, Weaving,


  • Surface Design and Printing, Bleaching, Dyeing and Finishing, Graphic Design, Graphic Printing and Ceramics.


JAMB Subject Combination


  • Use of English,


  • Fine Arts and


  • two (2) other Arts subjects or Social Science subjects.


UNICAL Cut-Off Mark for Fine Arts and Design


The general UTME cut-off mark is 180, but due to the variation of Fine Arts and Design cut-off mark depending on the admission year and competition level, we suggest you enquire about the recent JAMB UTME cut-off mark from UNICAL Officials. However, to improve your admission chances:


  • Aim for 180+ score.


  • Perform well in Post-UTME screening.

1. Tourism Studies


To study this course, candidates seeking admission into the Tourism Studies department, must have at least five (5) credits (C5 and more) in their SSCE disciplines, including the following:


  • Mathematics (at least a pass mark is required),


  • English Language,


  • Geography and


  • three (3) other subjects from Arts or Social Sciences.



2. Education and English Language


To study this course, candidates seeking admission into the Education and English Language department, must have at least five (5) credits (C5 and more) in their SSCE disciplines, including the following:


  • English Language,


  • Literature in English, and


  • three (3) other Arts / Social Science subjects.



3. History and International Studies


To study this course, a minimum of five (5) credit passes (C5 and higher) in their SSCE subjects, including the following, are required for applicants to the History and International Studies department.

To study this course, candidates aspiring to gain admission into Educational Technology department, should at least obtain five (5) credit (C5 and above) passes in their SSCE subjects including:
