O’Level Requirements
To study this course, the minimum requirement for applicants seeking admission to the Social Studies department under Faculty of Social Sciences, is five (5) credits (C5 and higher) in their SSCE subjects, including the following:
any two (2) of Social Science subject.
JAMB Subject Combination
any two (2) of Social Science subject.
UNICAL Cut-Off Mark for Social Studies
The general UTME cut-off mark is 180, but due to the variation of Social Studies cut-off mark depending on the admission year and competition level, we suggest you enquire about the recent JAMB UTME cut-off mark from UNICAL Officials. However, to improve your admission chances:

Other UNICAL Social Science Courses with their Requirements
1. Agric-Economics and Extension
To study this course, candidates seeking admission into the Agric-Economics and Extension department, must have at least five (5) credits (C5 and more) in their SSCE disciplines, including the following:
Biology / Agricultural Science
and one from Geography, Physics and Economics.
2. Accountancy / Accounting
To study this course, a minimum of five (5) credit passes (C5 and higher) in their SSCE subjects, including the following, are required for applicants to the Accountancy / Accounting department.
Economics and any other two (2) relevant subjects.
For NBC holders, the other two (2) relevant subjects could be from any of
Principles of Accounts, Commerce, Office Practice and Secretarial Duties.
3. Sociology
To study this course, candidates seeking admission into the Sociology department, must have at least five (5) credits (C5 and more) in their SSCE disciplines, including the following:
four (4) other Social Sciences/Arts subject.
4. Peace and Conflict Studies
To study this course, the minimum requirement for applicants seeking admission to the Peace and Conflict Studies department, is five (5) credits (C5 and higher) in their SSCE subjects, including the following:
at least a pass in Mathematics, and
any other two relevant subjects.
5. Education and Political Science
To study this course, a minimum of five (5) credit passes (C5 and higher) in their SSCE subjects, including the following, are required for applicants to the Education and Political Science department.
Government / History, and
three (3) other subjects.
6. Social Work
To study this course, candidates aspiring to gain admission into Social Work department, should at least obtain five (5) credit (C5 and above) passes in their SSCE subjects including:
any three (3) other relevant subjects.
7. Business Education
To study this course, a minimum of five (5) credit passes (C5 and higher) in their SSCE subjects, including the following, are required for applicants to the Business Education department.
Economics, and two (2) other subjects in the Social Sciences or Arts.
For NBC, the other subjects could be from any of the following:
Commerce, Office Practice, Principles of Accounts,
Secretarial Duties, Typewriting and Shorthand.
