    A Study on Exclusive Breastfeeding Among Nursing Mothers in Ngor Okpala Local Government Area

    CHAPTER ONE

    1.1 Introduction

    Feeding infants with breast milk is known as breastfeeding. All racial groups within the human species share this common cultural practice. Nonetheless, changes in the frequency and exclusiveness of breast milk application during baby feeding are frequently seen. Primary health care is promoted and implemented mostly by nurses (Paho, 2021). Given that nurses are the cornerstone of healthcare delivery, it is often necessary to keep them up to speed with the latest knowledge so that they can provide mothers and the community at large with proper information and abilities. Mothers' and children's nutritional condition and overall health are, however, closely related. An infant gets the healthiest start when they are breastfed (NIYCF, 2006 – 2010).

    This chapter will address the background information that motivated this study, the challenges that prompted it, its aim, and its objectives as a preface to subsequent sections of the study. Additional factors include the study's significance, scope, limitations, research questions and hypotheses, and the definition of technical terms.
