ABSTRACT

Solving the problem of unemployment through cooperative in order to achieve this, the government should control the population of Education system and compulsory services for graduating youth etc as means of checking un-employment rate. The government should come up with several employment scheme like National Directorate Employment (NDE) to provide jobs to its teeming population. The cooperative societies in its mandate to tackle the unemployment problem in Nnewi local Government Area of Anambra state and in Nigeria. On data collection, a survey method was used through a designed structural questionnaire. This was complimented with oral interviews. From the details analysis, the vital point were traced as the ways of solving the problems of unemployment through cooperatives. Based on the information gathered, some summarized findings were made. The co-operative has in its employment a team of professionals. The staff prefers increase in salaries as a major motivation to other options. The leadership style in cooperative is democratize. The recommendation is that management should involve workers in decision making because such act increases the moral of workers.
