Umaru Musa Yar’adua University (UMYU) formally known as Kastina State University is a State University located at Katsina State. UMYU was established in 2006 by the Katsina State Government as Katsina State University. It was later renamed Umaru Musa Yar’adua University in honour of the former Nigerian president. UMYU Course Requirements and Subject Combinations


  • Accounting

    Prospective Accounting students must possess SSCE credits in Government, Mathematics, English Language, Commerce and Economics. Accounting was introduced in the early 20th century as businesses and governments needed trained professionals to keep accurate financial records. At UMYU, the Accountancy / Accounting programme equips students with practical skills in bookkeeping, auditing, taxation, and financial reporting for careers in the public and private sectors.
  • Arabic Studies

    To qualify for Arabic Studies, SSCE credits in Literature in English, Mathematics, Government, Arabic and English Language are required.
