  • Other Tertiary Institution - At least a Merit pass in Electrical / Electronics Engineering department.

ND to HND Requirement

  • Polytechnic Institution - At least a Lower Credit (LC) pass in Electrical / Electronics Engineering department, but an Upper Credit (UC) / Distinction pass in Electrical / Electronics Engineering department gives you an edge over a Lower Credit (LC) student during admission process.

Electrical / Electronics Engineering Procedure for Calculating Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA)

Diploma (HND / ND) C.G.P.A. Calculation Steps:

  • Get the Grade Point (GP) of your of each semester sessions.

    Grade Variables and Equivalent Values
    • A   = 4.0
    • AB = 3.5
    • B   = 3.0
    • BC = 2.5
    • C   = 2.0

    Course Grade Calculation = Grade Variable Earned (From A - C) x Credit Unit (CU)
    Repeat the Course Grade Calculation process for other courses
    Semester GP Calculation = Total Grade divided by Total Credit Unit (CU) = Semester Grade Point

  • Add each semester Grade Point (GP) and divide by the total semester. For example;

    ND 1 First Semester - 3.00
    ND 1 Second Semester - 3.40
    ND 2 First Semester - 3.50
    ND 2 Second Semester - 3.49
    C.G.P.A = 3.00 + 3.40 + 3.50 + 3.49 = 13.39
    C.G.P.A = 13.39 / 4 Semesters
    C.G.P.A.= 3.35
    Note: Distinction (3.50 and above), Upper Credit (3.00 to 3.49), Lower Credit (2.99 to 2.50) and Pass (below 2.49).

Things to Know before the Semester Activity Begins

Buy Your Textbooks Early

Purchase your academic textbooks as soon as your school releases the list. While this may mean you buy handouts you will need, for early course acquaintancy.

Take Inventories Such as; Course Handouts, Buy School Supplies or Re-organize the ones you own

Go through your handouts, school supplies and determine what can be reused from last year. Then, acquire new school materials that are essential for learning.

Setup Your Binders and Notebooks

This saves time for your first week of school entry. Label your dividers with your name, print out your class schedule and affix it to the binder. Have your notebooks labels according to your classes. Do whatever you need to do. Having some simple organizational systems in place will make it easy to keep track of things when you are given papers by the handful.

Prepare Your School Activity Calendar

Get your planner set or ready to welcome your first lecture assignments. Then, as soon as you receive your syllabi you can transfer the assignments into the appropriate spaces and get to work.
