The study determines the Production of Bioethanol from Millet Hust. In achieving this aim, the following specific objectives were laid out to produce bioethanol from Millet Hust and identify the usefulness of Millet Hust for bioethanol production. Bio-ethanol is ethanol derived from the process of fermentation of biological materials. This is accomplished by the action of micro organism like yeast. Since the micro organism utilizes only simple sugars, starchy and cellulosic materials are first converted into simple sugars by a process of hydrolysis before they are subjected to fermentation. Data used in this work is derived primary from secondary sources. The methodology therefore, is basically documentary in nature. This involves learning new facts and principles through the study of documents and records. The documents and records include journals, textbooks, newspapers, magazines, official publications etc. By putting together logically evidence derived from documents and records. Conclusion which either established facts hitherto unknown or sound generalization can be obtained. This study will be of immense benefit to researchers who intend to know more on this study and can also be used by non-researchers to build more on their research work. This study contributes to knowledge and could serve as a guide for other study.
1.1 Introduction
Millet is a cereal grain that belongs to the Poaceae family, commonly known as the grass family. It’s widely consumed in developing countries throughout Africa and Asia. While it may look like a seed, millet’s nutritional profile is similar to that of sorghum and other cereals. Millet has gained popularity in the West because it’s gluten-free and boasts high protein, fiber, and antioxidant contents (Healthline, 2021). Bio-ethanol is ethanol derived from the process of fermentation of biological materials. This is accomplished by the action of micro organism like yeast.
