1.1 Introduction
Energy management is a term that has a number of meanings, but we're mainly concerned with the one that relates to saving energy in businesses, public-sector/government organizations and homes. When it comes to energy saving, energy management is the process of monitoring, controlling, and conserving energy in a building or organization (Garg et al., 2000). The application of Energy management in smart grids in Khan et al. presents a detailed review of various Home Energy Management Schemes. Energy management system will increase savings and reduce peak demand. Among various applications of smart grid technologies, home energy management is probably the most important one to be addressed.
As a prelude to other parts of this study, this chapter will discuss the background upon which this study was initiated, the statement of problems that led to this study, the Aim and Objectives of the study.
