ABSTRACT

The manual control of fluid dispensers such as a filling station pump is becoming obsolete. This technology which can only be reset manually, does not also have a provision for the following futures like digital display of amount or converting of the volume in equivalent currency and display of price. There are a lot of errors in counting and it is very difficult to operate.

Due to all this problems an improved technology was introduced as digitally controlled filling station pump meter device.

A filling station pump meter is simply an electronic device calibrated to display the quantity of liquid passed from a storage tank to the fuel tank of vehicles.

Digital control of devices and equipments is the latest technology in most engineering field today. For a device to be controlled digitally there must be a digital electronic circuit interface which communicates the user's ideas to the device.

The project, digitally controlled filling station pump meter is simply one that reads and displays its value in a digital form.

In this project, we employed the tachometer technique to read the quantity of fluid pumped by counting the revolution per minutes of the pumping motor. The value gotten from here is computed by a programmed chip (micro controller) and the final value displayed on the digital display read-out.

The inherent problems of manual control pump meter gave rise to the need for a digitally controlled pump meter because of the follow problems listed below

Fuel pump, fuel flow meter, fuel nozzle, oil pipe, shut off pull values, fuel motherboard, fuel display board, fuel power board, fuel keyboard, explosion-proof motor, thermal printer, mechanical counter, JC card socket, solenoid valve, pulse sensor, flow indicating marker, the body thickness and it can not handle large batches quickly and efficiently.

Finally, the problem of security such as keypad lock/unlock settings features use in preventing accidental or unauthorized changes is not provided in the manual controlled pump meter.

This project report is aimed at knowing the improvement in the digital control pump meter over manual control pump meter, its construction and principle of operation.

This project report is conventionally divided into

Chapter one is the introduction of digitally controlled filling station pump meter.

Chapter two deals with the literature review of the digitally controlled filling station pump meter from the origin to the present digital description.

Chapter three deals with the principle of operation of digitally controlled filling station pump meter.

Chapter four deals with conclusion and recommendation.

1.0 Introduction

A digitally controlled filling station pump meter is a measuring instrument that record and is proven to be a convenient and accurate tool to calibrate pump meter flow rates, simplifying the calibration and validation procedures pump flow rates from 25ml/min. down to as low as 0.05ml/min. can be measured with an accuracy of ± 1% (one percent) of the flow rate. This type of toll or instrument saves time and labor compared with manually controlled filling station pump meter.

Digitally controlled filling station pump meter were first used in the 1980's, when Chinese scientists discovered the application in a new technology digitally controlled filing station pump meter. It was manual pump meter that gives birth to digitally controlled filling station pump meter technology, as early workers quickly found that the digitally controlled filling station pump meter gave the most accurate result.

In addition, the data or information collected is independent of operator technique and is therefore both more accurate and more precise. Enhance stock reconciliation and identify losses controlling devices and equipments digitally is the latest technology in most engineering field today.

Digitally controlled filling station pump meter is durable and variable-speed digital pump is ideal for bulk fluid transfer and dispensing applications, it can handle large batches quickly and efficiently. Keypad lock/unlock feature helps lock in your settings and prevents accidental or unauthorized changes, it has an improved rotor and occlusion bed design allow easier tube loading and prevent tubing roll during operation, reversible motor has a purge before or after pumping fluid in either direction. Some external dimensions improved accuracy, flow indicating marker, flow ranges and body, built 25% grater wall thickness.

Unexpected pump failure can be costly and time conserving. Hedland says by installing one of it's direct reading flow meter on the pump. Case drain, the user can monitor changes in efficiency by keeping tabs on any increase in case drain flow. The excess case drain flow shows the pump is beginning to fail. This allows you to schedule preventive maintenance and reduces unexpected down time. Hedland's variable area meter has a low pressure drop, typically 1-5ps/G with an accuracy of 2% of full scale. The meter can be installed in any position with no special piping or flow strengtheners.

There is an improvements in the pump meter parts like fuel pump, fuel flow meter, fuel nozzle oil pipe, shut off pull valves, fuel motherboard, fuel display board, fuel power board, fuel keyboard, explosion – proof motor, thermal printer, mechanical counter, IC card socket, solenoid value and pulse sensor.

Finally, digital control pump meter introduce method into one or more vessels such that upper and lower temperature material limits are not exceeded and preferably such vessel are not over or under filled by controlling the filling temperature of the digital controlled filling station pump meter.

This material contains electrical diagrams, circuits, illustrations and more (Very detailed)
