    ABSTRACT

Lecturer-student relationship could determine the performance of a student or group of students in a department. Sometimes, some student find it difficult to walkup to a lecturer and discuss issues with him even if the issue is a pressing one. Sometime a lecturer might not really know how the student he working with are really coping with lectures, assignment and general knowledge in their field of study. This project research work help solve the above mention problem by integrating lecturers-student communication in a more efficient way. It will result the design of a web platform which integrates some learning procedures as well as socialization between lecturer and student, students and their fellow students as well as lecturer to lecturer relationship. Qualitative research methodology was used for data collection and this includes interview, review of the current system and also observation. Being an online system, the end application was developed using series of web development languages like HTML5, CSS3,jQuery, PHP (on MVC Framework which is the latest technology for web development) and MySQL.

    1.0 Introduction

    1.1 Background Of Study

1.2 Aims and Objectives of Study

The aim of the study is to design and implement an E-learning and Social Networking Platform for Student and Lecturers. In achieving this aim, the following specific objectives were laid out as follows to develop an application software that will:

    1. Create a platform where lecturer and student can freely communicate with one another.
    2. Integrate some learning procedures; for instance, a lecturer can give assignment through the platform as well as a student can submit using the platform.
    3. Create an online community where students can come and discuss their problem and challenges with their lecturers or fellow students while others learn from it.

    1.3 Scope Of Study

The scope of this research is focused on the Design and Implementation of an E-learning and Social Networking Platform for Student and Lecturers. It emphasizes more on the benefits of internet in learning processes.
