1.1 Introduction
Computer Aided Design (CAD) software has been alive and available to designers (Architects) in practical useful form for over half a century (Botchway et al., 2015). Digital technologies have been used in architectural schools to challenge the modernizing view of architectural practice (Andia, 2002; Schenk, 2005). The advance of the information computer technology revolution with the accompanied digital technologies has changed the traditional context of architecture as a profession and in education (Breen, 2004).
CAD transformed from being an aesthetic simulation application available to mainframe computers and used exclusively by professionals working on special projects to being accessible to any interested individual using a Personal Computer (PC). Computer-aided design (CAD) tools have been extensively used by the architects for the several decades. It has evolved from being a simple drafting tool to being intelligent architectural software and a powerful means of communication for architects. CAD plays an essential role in the profession of architecture and is a basic tool for any architectural firm.
As a prelude to other parts of this study, this chapter will discuss the background upon which this study was initiated, the statement of problems that led to this study, the Aim and Objectives of the study.
