Micro Controller Based Industrial Machine Frequency Control

1.1 Introduction

The electricity drive system used in many industrial application, require higher performance, reliability and variable speed due to its ease of controllability. The speed control of industrial motor is very crucial in applications where precision and; protection are very important. The purpose of motor speed control is to take a signal representing the required speed and to drive the motor at that speed.

The control of motion of a motor could be a flat-belt application, flow control application or mixing of substances. Various types of electrical motors are used to provide mechanical motion in industrial application includes A.C motors such as induction motors, D.C motors, servo or stepper motors. Each type of these motors is used in industries depending on the application required. The motion of a D.C motors can be controlled using a D.C drive which changes the speed and direction includes rectifiers with a series resistor that converts standard A.C supply into D.C and supplies it to the motor. Through a switch and a series resistor to change the speed and direction of rotation of the motor.

Recently, due to the fast growth in technological development, the drives used in controlling the speed and direction of rotation of motors used in industrial processes are incorporated with built-in microcontrollers.

Microcontroller can provide easy control of industrial motors; they are capable of providing programmable facilities, massage display on LCD, precise control an d also protection when used to control t he speed of motors.

Furthermore, to control the speed of most D.C motors used in industries, variable voltage D.C power source are needed. When a D.C motor is switched on, the motor starts gaining speed and if you switched off the power supply when the motor has not reached its maximum rated speed, it starts to slow down. This is in line with the principle of pulse width modulated (PWM) control in which switching on and off of the supply to the motor are done in quick succession. The motor rotates at a slower speed between zero and full rated speed.

1.2 Purpose of Study

The purpose of the study is to design and construct a Micro Controller Based Industrial Machine Frequency Control that can provide easy control of industrial motors and achieve a system with constant speed at any load condition.

Defense Procedure for Electrical / Electronics Engineering Researchers

In preparation for defending a project or seminar on Micro Controller Based Industrial Machine Frequency Control, it is imperative that as a nursing student, you demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of your research. The defense process is structured to include presenting your work, answering questions, and illustrating its pertinence. Initially, provide a succinct yet thorough introduction to your research topic, emphasizing its importance and the objectives, ensuring that both the audience and the External Examiner can understand the scope of your study.

Prior to your defense, be thoroughly acquainted with your research abstract and the critical elements of Chapter One, including motivation for embarking on this research, problem statement, objectives, and significance. In Chapter Two, be ready to cite at least two references from the literature review. For Chapter Three, you should be equipped to discuss the methodologies, tools, and techniques utilized. In Chapter Four, defend your research by justifying the findings and linking them to your research objectives.

Conclude your defense by succinctly summarizing the study and offering insightful, evidence-based recommendations. A professional dress code, such as wearing a suit and tie, is vital to create a favorable impression and elevate your presentation.

During the question and answer segment, the External Examiner may pose questions pertaining to your research. If confronted with a challenging or irrelevant question, respond diplomatically with, “Sorry, Sir/Madam, the question asked is beyond the scope of my study.” Whenever possible, direct your answers back to your research findings to reinforce your expertise.
