ABSTRACT

The development of Automatic Water Pump Operator as a device that monitors and controls the level of water in the tanks (Low and High level of reservoir) has helped not only in the provision of water supply for human life where it is installed ,it is also a useful device that keeps the environment clean since it does not allow water spillage over it environment.

The introduction of Automatic Water Pump Operator has a huge advantages over a manual Water Pump System , in the sense that it reduces losses thereby increasing the efficiency in days output of industries that depends on water for their production, it help to curb the overflowing of water which is one of the problem off manual operated system.

This device helps to control the water pump motor by switching it on automatically when the water goes beyond the lower limit and off when it reaches.



The Construction of Automatic Water Pump Operator


1.0 Introduction

Automatic water pump operator is a device which automates the ON or OFF and other controlling mechanisms of the water pumps which are used in many industries and houses. This device correctly calculates the exact moment to turn NO or OFF the water pump base on the water level in the storage tanks. As a result there is no chance for the pumps to get burned and there is no wastage of water which was the basic problem in the manual water pump system. Automatic water pump operator is used to control the water pump motor.

The motor gets automatically switched on when water in the over head tank (OHT) falls below the lower limit similarly it gets switched off when the tank is filled up. Built around only an AND gate I. this circuit is simple, compact and economical. It uses a 12V DC power supply and consumes very little power. The circuit can be divided into two parts controller circuit and indicator circuit. The controller circuit is one which is use for the purpose of controlling the water pump action. When the water level reaches a maximum level the motor turns off and when the water level goes below the minimum level the motor turns on automatically.

This circuits consists of a NAND gate IC, transistors, relays with specification 12V, 200 OHM IC/o, diodes, the indicator circuit is one which is use to indicate the level of water inside the tank depending upon the number of LEDs that glow we can determine the water level in the tank. This device is very much useful to curb the over flow of water in overhead tanks which in turns favors conservation of water. With further advancement, it can be use to check the level of water in dams.
