1.1 Introduction
The AI cocktail maker machine allows for easy to use touchless cocktail making as spoken by user. We here use a raspberry pi controller to develop the machine. The system consists of a pre-fed menu with a number of cocktail drinks. Each drink mix combination is already fed into the system. Thus when a particular cocktail drink is selected the system draws specific amount of input drinks in a measured way and mixes it in the glass to to serve the cocktail. To make the machine extremely function friendly, the AI bartender machine dosen’t have a user interface. Whenever a glass is placed on the tray it auto activates and simply asks the user what he/she needs to drink. System then shows a menu of cocktails to the user to choose from. The user may speak to the system; we use a speech recognition system that is processed by raspberry pi unit. The system now waits or user to choose from the menu and when the user has chosen he needs to speak out the number associated with desired drink to the bartender machine.
The system now has the ingredients and quantity of each cocktail stored in it. The system drive motors along with a flow meter to measure each ingredient quantity which are dispensed in the glass as per cocktail recipe.
As a prelude to other parts of this study, this chapter will discuss the background upon which this study was initiated, the statement of problems that led to this study, the Aim and Objectives of the study. Others are Significance of the study, Scope of work, Limitations of the Study and Definition of technical terms.
1.2 Statement of Problems
Investigation reveals the manual process during Bartending of Cocktail, which is stressful. Bartenders work in a highly visible, pressure-packed environment. They must simultaneously meet management's expectations and satisfy customers' demands. When the operation gets busy, your bartenders are routinely hard pressed, given far more work than time to complete it. The following are the specific problems of the existing system:
- A lot of customer, demand for attention, cannot be served by the machine without user intervention.
- Money extortion as a result of customer’s disappearance after been served by the bartender.
1.3 Aim and Objectives of Study
The aim of the study is to design and construct a Bartender Cocktail Maker Machine. In achieving this aim, the following specific objectives were laid out as follows to construct a system that will:
- Serve cocktail according to the brand/drink selection
- Provide accurate bill for request cocktail drink
- Describe and test relationships and examine cause and effect interactions among machine variables.
1.4 Significance of Study
This study will be of immense benefit to Mechanical Engineers and other researchers who intend to know more on this study and can also be used by non-researchers to build more on their research work. This study contributes to knowledge and could serve as a guide for other study.
1.5 Scope of Study
The study focuses on the Design and Construction of AI Bartender Cocktail Maker Machine.
1.6 Limitations of the Study
During the course of this study, many things militated against its completion, some of which are:
- Time Constraint: The time frame given to accomplish this project was very short due to school academic calendar and it was carried out under pressure which made the researcher not to implement some necessary features.
- Research material: availability of research material is a major setback to the scope of the study.
- Frequent power failure: This made the researcher append more money on fuel to ensure sustainable power.
- Financial Constraint: Insufficient fund tends to impede the efficiency of the researcher in sourcing for the relevant materials, literature or information and in the process of data collection (internet).
